The Inner Senshi, or Inner Scouts are the 4 original scouts of Sailor Moon. They are called the Inner Senshi because they are senshi of the inner planets of the Solar System. They are also the primary Guardians of Princess Serenity. Princess Serenity has eight total Guardians, the Princess's of each planet, whom are the senshi of each of their respective plants. There is no senshi of the Earth, and Princess Serenity is the senshi of the Moon, so all of the other planets have a Guardian senshi.

In their order of command, the Inner Senshi consist of:

Sailor Venus

Sailor Mars

Sailor Jupiter

Sailor Mercury

Sailor Moon is often considered to be one of the Inner Senshi, but she is not. She's the overall leader of all the senshi, and the one whom they all protect at all costs. The Inner senshi specifically dedicate their lives to protecting Usagi and supporting her, so they are with her all the time. In many battles, they even lay down their lives, and send all of their senshi power to her. The inners are also Usagi's best friends and she spends the majority of her time with them. All of the Inner senshi are in every Sailor Moon series.
